The journey behind Anaqa Inspired began with a personal story. As a university student, I often wore abayas, but quickly realised how expensive they could be. A simple, everyday abaya could cost upwards of £60, which, for a student, felt like a heavy price to pay. I dreamed of creating affordable, quality abayas, but life got in the way, and the idea was put on the back-burner as I focused on building my career. Meanwhile, stores like Shein, Zara, and H&M started taking over my wardrobe with trendy and budget-friendly options, and abayas slowly faded from my daily life.
That all changed in 2021, when I was given the opportunity to start my own abaya business. It felt surreal — the dream I had quietly nurtured for so many years was now within reach. I couldn’t pass up the chance. I joined Anaqa Inspired during its early stages, which had been on a break and was preparing to relaunch bigger and better. I knew exactly what I wanted to bring to the table: a professional, customer-first approach to abaya shopping.
A Fresh Start for Anaqa Inspired
When we relaunched Anaqa Inspired in January 2021, I worked on the business alongside my day job, as did my co-owner. We knew we had to address some major misconceptions about the abaya industry. Often, abaya businesses are seen as informal, small operations run through social media handles like Instagram or Facebook, with little structure or professionalism. We wanted to change that perception.
One of our first decisions was to create an official website where customers could place orders, rather than relying on social media platforms. We knew the challenges that come with returns and exchanges in the abaya world — especially with businesses that don’t accept returns. As a small, growing brand, we couldn’t absorb the cost of returns at first, but we still wanted to make sure customers were satisfied. So, we offered exchanges or refunds in the form of store credit, giving customers peace of mind while allowing us to manage the business's growth.
Deep down, I always knew that once Anaqa Inspired became more established, we would offer full refunds. Now, we’re proud to offer a 14-day return policy, with refunds credited back to the customer’s original payment method. Alternatively, customers can opt for store credit, which includes a £5 bonus from us.

Size & Fit: We’ve Got You Covered
For those new to abayas, our sizing is based on height. For example, if you're 5ft 4in, you would choose a size 54, and size up to 56 if you plan on wearing heels. Our sizes range from 52 to 58, and due to popular demand, we are now introducing size 60 for our taller customers.
